About
A versatile and skilled musician, Melinda Abendroth is a performer and pedagogue experienced in contemporary extended techniques and specializing in historical performance practice. A Pacific Northwest native, Melinda has recently returned to Seattle, Washington, after earning a Masters in Historical Music Performance from the Royal College of Music, London.
Her group f(lute) with Lutenist, Daniel Frizzell, tours and clinics frequently. In 2017 they were privileged to present a masterclass for the Hsinchu County Youth Chinese Orchestra in Taiwan.
Melinda is a member of the historical performance group Ensemble Cupis, which most notably was selected for the Blackheath, London, Early Music Festival’s 2018 Young Artist Showcase. She is also a founding member of the European Early Music Ensemble Zeffiretti.
In 2019 Melinda performed for Anne Boleyn’s Music Book Celebration, a special event for the newly bound Music Book, and recently published facsimile of the manuscript from the Royal College of Music’s collection.
Additionally, in 2019 with the RCM Consort 21: Contemporary Music for Historical Instruments, she premiered a new work “Sonata, for Electronics and Baroque Ensemble” by Feiwan Ho.
She holds an Artist Diploma in Early Music and a Bachelor of Music from Cornish College of the Arts, Seattle, Washington. Her performance on historical flutes is enriched by her experience in recorder consort, viol consort, singing, and historical dance.
